Edmonds Mayor Dave Earling on March 5 declared March 2013 to be Brain Injury Awareness Month, highlighting the work of the local Edmonds Brain Injury Group. The support group’s theme this year is “For Us, By Us.”

Approximately 1.7 million people sustain a traumatic brain injury annually, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Edmonds support group meets 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month on the second floor of Swedish/Edmonds Medical Center, 21601 76th Ave. W. For more information, contact Lou Nash at 425-776-7264.
