The Brain Energy Support Team (BEST) is pleased to announce our BEST Superhero of the Month for October 2017. BEST congratulations to Emily Lowndes-Wright! Emily is physical therapist and support group facilitator in Yakima, Washington.

Here’s what Emily’s nominator had to say:

Since the first meeting Emily, her energy and commitment to those she helps through her work as a physical therapist and as a Brain Injury Support Group Facilitator have been powerful.

To quote Emily, “Since being in Yakima, I saw the need to unite individuals who have had a neurological injury. Because of this, I was able to start a support group entitled “Adaptive Recreation for Community Integration.” The goal is to gather individuals after a neurological injury or diagnosis and provide a network of support but also perform activities that they thought may not be possible any more. The group has grown significantly since initially starting and is one of my proudest accomplishments yet.”

With that in mind, Emily has collaborated with other brain injury support groups, counselors, and therapists to provide engaging, challenging, and fun opportunities for those with brain injury and their families to enjoy and grow from. She’s a ray of sunshine in the lives of all those she works with and supports.

Our BEST thanks and appreciation to Emily for all that she does for our community and beyond!
